Common Questions About Our Handmade Soaps

Common Questions About Our Soaps

1. Are your soaps tear-free?

Due to the natural pH level of our soap, it is impossible to formulate a tear-free product. Large commercial brands use chemicals to alter the pH, but our natural soaps do not contain these additives. If soap gets in your eyes, rinse immediately with water.

2. Why is my washcloth a different color after using your soap?

Some of the natural colorants we use, such as activated charcoal and indigo powder, can leave a slight discoloration on light-colored washcloths or towels. This discoloration usually washes away but may be harder to remove on some fabrics. Rest assured, our soaps do not stain the skin.

3. Are your soaps corrosive? I've heard lye is dangerous.

Lye (sodium hydroxide) is essential in soap making and is combined with oils and butters at the beginning of the process. This mixture undergoes saponification, a natural chemical process that eliminates the lye from the final product. Our soaps are safe for skin use and do not contain lye after saponification.

4. What should I do if one of your soaps gives me a rash?

If you experience a rash, you may be allergic to one of the essential oils in the soap. Discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice if the rash persists. We list all allergens on our soap labels and product pages to help you make informed decisions before purchasing.

5. How do I know your products are safe?

In the UK, all beauty products must have a Cosmetic Product Safety Assessment (CPSR). All our recipes are tested and approved by scientists, ensuring they are safe for use before being available for purchase.

6. Do all your soaps contain coconut oil?

Yes, all of our soaps contain coconut oil . All of the ingredients are listed for each product in the drop down menus on the product pages. if you are unsure about any ingredients, please do contact us - we are always happy to help with any queries.
