Information

All of our solid soap bars are made from natural plant derived and organic ingredients such as clays, fruits and flowers.

Our standard sized soap bars weigh 118g unless otherwise stated.

We do not use palm oil in any of our recipes, we don't even use sustainable palm oil as we just don't see the need, and all of our products are cruelty free and vegan friendly.

Each bar we make and sell has the same core ingredients, we then add pure essential oils, botanicals or any additional ingredients that each individual soap bar needs.

We do not use any artificial ingredients in our soaps or preservatives and lather enhancers. Any benefit you get is completely natural and a direct result of the ingredients and their individual properties.

All of our soaps are made using the traditional cold process method - lye, water butters and oils are mixed together to produce soap. Everything that goes into our soap is meticulously measured following our own scientist approved recipes.

Any imperfections in bar shape or colour are purely natural and a common indication of a handmade product. Each bar is unique and different batches of botanicals can produce colour changes in every loaf of soap we make - nature can be very unpredictable.

The ingredients and some of the benefits of our recipes -

Coconut Oil

An excellent skin moisturiser. Its properties help to remove dead skin cells and any dirt. It can also help to firm up the skin helping you look fresher as it is rich in antioxidants.

Olive Oil

Rich in vitamins, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This oil helps to speed up the generation of skin cells, slow down the ageing process and can treat several skin problems such as rashes and sunburn.

Cocoa Butter

Can help to reduce the appearance of scars on the skins surface and can boost overall skin health. Antioxidants found in cocoa butter can help to neautralize free radicals.

Shea Butter

Helps to moisturise the pores without clogging them. Produces natural protection from *UV radiation and soothes burns it can also help to fade scars. Rich in vitamin A to help rebuild cells and vitamin E, which is a natural antioxidant.

*This does not replace your normal sunscreen cream.

Castor Oil

Makes the skin plump and supple and is easily absorbed, it also helps to make a dense and creamy lather in our soaps.  This oil can help to clear acne by preventing excessive oil secretion, it boosts collagen by penetrating deep into the skin and also naturally helps to treat wrinkles.

Rice Bran Oil

Helps to make a balanced bar for sensitive or mature skin. High in fatty acids and contains many vitamins, antioxidants and nutrients. Can also help to slow ageing. Widely used in Japan for centuries to help fight wrinkles.

Essential Oils

Our soaps contain pure essential oils (except 'In the Buff' which in unscented) and all of the oils we use are ethically sourced from sustainable supplies. Each oil we use is selected for the properties that pertain to the plant it was extracted from e.g. Lavender essential oil is an excellent oil for calming stressed minds and skin. The oils we select for each product are often blended with other oils to help create a pleasing blend that is created in house by us. We do not use fragrance oils or use commercially pre-mixed blends.

Clay

All of our soaps include natural clay. This gives natural exfoliation to help remove excess oils, dead skin cells and impurities such as pollution, dirt, grime and germs. The clay helps to clean pores and prevent clogging which can help to prevent breakouts. Clays can also improve the structure of the skin, tighten and tone and leave you feeling smooth, fresh and radiant. We use different coloured clay to give natural colour to our soaps.

Activated Charcoal

This is a well known ingredient in cosmetics that can treat oily skin, reduce pore size, clear blemishes and prevent premature ageing. It is suitable for all skin types to use and can make the skin feel tighter and firmer. The charcoal clears out pores and absorbs toxins by binding to dirt and oil.

Alternative colourants and additional botanicals

In some of our recipes we also use other ingredients to naturally colour our soaps. These are all natural and safe to use on the skin, some also have added benefits. Some of the other items we use are -

  • Nettle leaves which are a natural astringent, help to reduce redness and fight blemishes.
  • Annatto seeds that give an amazing yellow or orange colour, are a natural astringent with antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Indigo powder, which is well known for giving a natural blue or grey colour, is used to give variation in the soap colours we offer.
  • Oats help to soften the skin and can help lock in moisture, they have a calming effect on the skin and can help with redness or itchy skin problems. They also restore the skins natural Ph balance. Oatmeal is also great at keeping you fresh as it gets rid of unwanted body odour.
  • Rice water/milk can give skin a gentle glow and when used on a regular basis can even-out the skin tone and soften and smooth the surface.

Please note that we do not advise using any soap you buy on mucous membranes or broken skin as these areas are more sensitive and irritation can occur.
